Ccwdmoss is an independent label of handmade shoes and accessories by Andrey Moss, which do more than merely make a statement: they express the impermanence of the human experience through an artist's eyes.
Following the traditions of artisan production, Andrey Moss offers his customers shoes and accessories made by hand in his small studio in the Russian provincial city of Ryazan, where in 2013 Andrey launched his own label.
At the heart of the designer's work is the process of creating an artistic image through which Andrey talks about the dark side of culture through his vision of women, art, religion and sexuality. Behind the ascetic design with raw edges and feminine silhouette with rough details hides a sophisticated ideology of work, which Andrey devotes to exploring the female body, working through an anatomical approach to creating, material analysis and how texture relates to form.
Each Ccwdmoss product is crafted by one pair of hands using self-taught, unconventional methods and rare materials ensuring the uniqueness of every piece. To achieve high quality in the production, Andrey uses leather by one of the oldest tanneries in Russia, paints from Spain, chemicals and fabrics from Italy and care products from France. He honors the belief that every detail has its own purpose and meaning.
"Andrey Moss is more than anything you envision. He is a genuine artisan who conducts art and fashion with his spectral baton. Andrey articulates himself with his connection to the past. The past where everything was real, arcane and vivid, where nature procreated itself as a maiden without manipulation or corruption by human intervention." - Hakan Öztunalı
"Andrey Moss's designs may seem macabre, but his exquisite relation of texture to form produces a beauty all its own. Through his creations, Moss reclaims damning constructions of woman to produce carefully crafted pieces that empower in the process. They are redolent of centuries past, yet their exceptional style makes them distinctly modern, his high quality, sustainable accessories minimal enough for regular wear and singular enough for statement." - Laura Glancy
